Michele Yulo is currently a stay-at-home mom with a love of writing and literature, having graduated from Georgia State University with a master’s degree in English. She has worked in the education, hospitality, and advertising industries. Throughout the years, she never gave up hope that there was something out there that would allow her many creative passions—like writing songs, playing guitar, and spending time in the kitchen cooking her Italian grandmother’s favorite recipes— to blossom into a career.

It was Michele's daughter, Gabriela, who would provide the crucial spark of inspiration. Gabi is a feisty five year old with an unwavering desire to be just like her dad--from wanting to wear a tool belt and work boots, to adamantly refusing to wear dresses. For Michele, it was truly a light bulb moment. “When you have a three year old little girl who refuses to wear puffy sleeves, dresses, or lace, you start to wonder where she fits in, but more than that, how she views herself when she has to identify with being a boy to find the things she likes.”

And so was born the Princess Free Zone, and the realm of a distinctly different super hero: Super Tool Lula.

Michele elaborates: “Girls need to know that they can do anything they want—that might include hammering a nail into a wall or fixing a broken faucet. But just saying the words doesn’t make it so.”  She believes a girl can wear a tiara if she wants, but she should feel free to take it off as well.

When Michele is not working on (and in) the Princess Free Zone, she can be found managing a hectic household in Atlanta with Gabi, her husband Steve, and four crazy dogs.
